Lassiter’s final six points were the savior for the Beermen to stop their opponent to even the series at 1-1. His biggest one was the tip-in during the overtime period when his pass to June Mar Fajardo rimmed out and as the big-man Ginebra defender went to play defense against “the Kraken”. As a result the post went open for an offensive rebound and Lassiter took advantage of that situation.
Arwind Santos was also one of the heroes for the Beermen as he sent the game into overtime. The Gin Kings looks great in the last two-minutes of the game as they’re protecting a six-point lead.
Santos drilled a three-pointer and puts San Miguel trailing by three-point. Then on the next play Ginebra made a basket and they’re back in the driver seat with a five-point lead with a minute remaining in the fourth quarter. On the next play, Fajardo got fouled and he easily sank his bonus free-throws and puts the score 95-92 still the Gin Kings leading.
Ginebra weren’t able to convert a basket and wasted a very valuable ball-position as Sol Mercado heaves an air-ball. San Miguel took advantage of that, they have tried to feed Fajardo in the post as the shooters weren’t able to find an open shot. Unfortunately, Japeth Aguilar was there to defend the paint and blocked Fajardo’s shot, then the ball went loose. Aguilar tapped the ball out from near the basket thinking that will be the best option but the ball went to the hands of an open Arwin Santos.
Santos launched a three-pointer and swished. Once again, the entire Smart Araneta Coliseum got shook by all of the San Miguel Beermen fans who are present in the venue.

“Isa lang masasabi ko – eto eh tsamba,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.
“Kung hindi nai-shoot ni Arwind yung three-point shot, 1-1 na ang series. Dahil naging 2-0, malaking morale-booster ito sa amin,” Austria added.
Mario Lassiter was named as the “Bida Player of the Game” with his 25 points along with his eight rebounds. Most of Lassiter’s damage came in the second half and in the overtime period.
June Mar Fajardo who was limited only to a single digit point in Game 1 went beasting in Game 2. Fajardo dropped 33 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. Arwind Santos chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Prince Caperal the new addition of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel this All-Filipino conference went unconscious as he was able to drill jump-shot after jump-shot. Caperal registered 26 points with eight boards. Caperal was signed by Ginebra in the middle of the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup to strengthen their front-court as Greg Slaughter and Joe Devance got sidelined due to injuries.
Japeth Aguilar led all of the Gin Kings players with his 28 points while Scottie Thompson added 10 points and nine rebounds who missed a follow-up as time expires in the final period.
Game 3 for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the San Miguel Beermen is scheduled on Tuesday and will be played at the Mall of Asia Arena at 7:00 PM.
