The Meralco Bolts is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters at 7:00 P.M. on June 8, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Fuel Masters are looking to stop their roller-coaster ride this import-laden conference and wanted to have a consistent winning basketball while the Bolts will make an attempt to chase the current leaders of the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

2018 PBA All-Star snub Chris Newsome continue to prove that he should be in that week long event as he dropped 22 points, five rebounds and five assists when they dealt Barangay Ginebra San Miguel several days ago.

The 2016 PBA Rookie of the Year got his energy and inspiration from his family who came to the arena in full force to support him.

“We needed a bounce-back win and I was inspired as I got my family here,” said Newsome.

Arinze Onuaku was also nearly unstoppable at least in the rebounding category as he pulled 23 rebounds against the long-stretch arms of Ginebra’s big-men like Greg Slaughter, Japeth Aguilar and Joe Devance. Tonight he will be matched-up with the much smaller but tough Phoenix import Eugene Phelps.

On the other hand, the Fuel Masters were the first victim of the re-surging Beermen. Phoenix were successful on containing June Mar Fajardo and limit his points to only 9 points and even in close-game until the fourth quarter until Arwind Santos took over the game.

Eugene Phelps was so active in that game SMB game and registered 33 points along with his 17 rebounds. However, coach Louie Alas’s snipers were not so sharp in their last scheduled game as both Matthew Wright and Jeff Chan only made a combined 21 points. Chan who was named as the 2018 All-Star MVP – Visayas Leg was shutdown and only dropped four points.
