The Mighty Sports were able to survive against UAE national basketball team and logged their first victory for the 31st Dubai International Basketball Tournament.

Usually, at the age of 40-years-old it’s supposed to be father-time but not for the Asian Games Basketball legend Fadi El Khatib who played as an import for the host squad.

El-Khatib delivered 30 points and re-introduced himself to Pinoy fans who tormented the Gilas Pilipinas in its gold medal quest during the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup which was held in Lebanon.

Yet, good thing that he got slowed down in the final frame as the Mighty Sports along with its fans shook the Shabab Al Ahli Club with their energy.

GenSan Warriors gunner Mikey Williams put things in order with less than two minutes in the fourth quarter as he swished his corner three-pointer.

Still, team UAE won’t exit the basketball court without a fightback as they got back in the game and put their squad in a striking distance.

However, the Lebanese basketball legend missed three straight free-throws which gave head coach Charles Tiu a relief as they secured their first win in the tournament.

“I have to be a bit more patient because this is technically our first game together. We were complete for the first time in our shoot-around last night,” Tiu said.

Tonight at 11:00 PM (PHI time), Mighty Sports will be facing a Syrian squad, the Al Ittihad of Aleppo.
