What many called as the “Jaw dropping” response of Miss Zamboanga had gone viral on social media. Bellatrix Tan who represents Zamboanga , has conveyed her ideas on the weather-related phenomena #ElNiño as well as #LaNiña.
In the Miss Earth contest, placed at the UP Theater in Diliman, the hopefuls were asked to talk about their thoughts about selected issues associated with current events. Ms. Tan herself choose the subject on #ElNiño and #LaNiña and began to express her opinions over it.
Among the judges described the response of Ms. Zamboanga as, “Nakakaloka!”, meaning “this makes me go crazy!”. The candidate has conveyed her thought on the matter by saying that we have to start planting trees to combat El Niño, a clear case of intense drought. Further she added by stating that, “If we start now, we will achieve La Niña.”
ElNiño as well as LaNiña both are challenging climate conditions which usually produces calamity. LaNiña usually produces excessive rainfall, and also severe weather, in certain places.
Maybe, Bellatrix Tan wasn’t quite prepared by the details of the terms or perhaps nervousness brought her senses not available in that particular moment. However, several had said that she had an excellent sense of humor.
Nevertheless, the Miss Earth contest carries its advocacy for boosting consciousness regarding environmental matters. Bellarix sadly, failed to win the crown.
