The Cagers wanted to extend their winning ways to three in a row while the Strikers will try to make a six-game winning streak when the 2019 MPBL Lakan Cup resumes this afternoon in San Juan City.
Team Muntinlupa is coming from a close-game victory against the Imus Banderas last January 7 at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.
The Cagers were able to escape the late-game surge of the Banderas as they stared on their eight-point advantage almost disappear. In the last 28 seconds of the fourth quarter, their lead went down to three, 89-86. Good thing the buffer they piled early was enough to secure the win.
John Kervin Ortuoste led Muntinlupa with his 26 points and seven boards performance while Dave Moralde added 16 points and five rebounds.
For the Bacoor squad, on the other hand, they’re coming from a double-digit win against the Marikina Shoemaster last January 8 at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Strikers went to their already proven low-post game as they dominated the points in the paint battle, 40-22. Likewise, their second unit came in ready and delivered 39 markers.
Michael Cañete led Bacoor with his 19 points and 12 boards performance while Michael Mabulac had 14 markers and 12 boards.
