The national government already announced that December 30, 2015 is one of the Regular Holidays in the nation.
This year’s special event of Rizal’s death anniversary marked the 119th year of Jose Rizal’s execution at the Bagumbayan Park today referred to as the Luneta Park. Rizal was executed by the Spaniards in the year 1896, his demise leads to the Filipinos patriotism and also marked the beginning of the Philippine Revolution up against Spain.
Rizal Day was initially implemented with a decree of President Emilio Aguinaldo issued in December 20, 1898 and celebrated December 30, 1898 as a nationwide day of mourning for Jose Rizal.
For the year 2015 celebration of the 119th Rizal Day, President Benigno S. Aquino III leads the occasion at the Rizal Park in Manila on Wednesday morning. President PNoy reached the Rizal Monument around 8:00 AM along with Vice President Jejomar Binay as well as Mayor Erap Estrada.
