With the NBA Summer League closing, Davion Mitchell of the Sacramento Kings and Cam Thomas of the Brooklyn Nets were named the co-MVPs of the special event.
Mitchell had big contributions for the Kings against the Boston Celtics where both teams were fighting for the championship. The 22-year old guard held Boston’s Pritchard, who was averaging 20.3 points per game for the Celtics to only six points on 0-of6 from the three-point arc. Overall, Mitchell averaged 10.8 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in the Summer League while shooting 42% on his shots and 47% on his three-pointers.
Meanwhile, Thomas was the top score within the event, averaging 27 points per game for the Brooklyn Nets. Not only that, but he also helped the Nets to win three games. Overall, Thomas averaged 42% on his shots and 36% on his three-pointers. In addition to his dashing outputs in the Summer League, he also grabbed 1.8 rebounds per game and had 2 assists per game for the Nets.
The co-MVPs were also included in the All-Summer League First Team where they join Jalen Johson from the Atlanta Hawks, Trey Murphy III from the New Orleans Pelicans, Payton Pritchard from the Boston Celtics, Jalen Smith from the Phoenix Suns, and Obi Topping of the New York Knicks.
