The Kings came out victorious against the Boston Celtics and won the 2021 Summer League championship with a final score of 100-67. Not only that, but they also won all of their five games in Las Vegas.
Boston opens up the game with a 2-12 run against the Sacramento Kings. Later in the matchup, the Kings take the lead at 22-20 with a Mitchell three-pointer.
After that three-pointer from the Kings, the Celtics were not able to regain the lead for the remainder of the game. The Kings’ lead ballooned in the third quarter as they were taking advantage of the Celtics’ turnovers. At the end of the third quarter, the Kings had 36 points off turnovers against Bostons’ two points off turnovers.
At the end of the game, Louis King was named the MVP of the game after recording 21 points and five big steals for the Kings. King went undrafted in 2019 and has spent two seasons in the G-League. The 22-year old forward signed a two-way deal with Sacramento and because of this strong output, he might have a bright future in the NBA.
Davion Mitchell, the co-MVP of the Summer League held Pritchard throughout the game, limiting him to only six points and had six turnovers.
This is the Kings’ second championship win in the Summer League. The first one was from the 2014 event.
Alex Antetokounmpo, the brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, came off from the bench for the Kings. Now that he is a champion, all of the Antetokounmpo brothers who are playing basketball have won championships of some sort.
