The NLEX Road Warriors is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Blackwater Elite at 4:30 P.M. on February 18, 2018 live from the Philippine Arena, Bulacan.
The Road Warriors are looking for its four-game winning streak while the Elite will be gunning for a three wins a row and solidify their chances for advancing to the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup Quarterfinals round.
Coach Yeng Guiao was successful in turning the fortunes of his squad as they now back on winning track after a depressing four-game losing skid.
It all started with beating Barangay Ginebra San Miguel then Meralco Bolts and then the Alaska Aces. The latter owns the most winning streak this All-Filipino conference and it all ended when they faced the Road Warriors.
With only two games remaining in their schedule, NLEX bench chieftain is aiming to end the elimination round above seventh and eighth placer and avoid the twice-to-win disadvantage.
“We’re trying to get to a spot where we make the next round and not playing a team with a twice-to-beat advantage,” said Guiao following his crew’s 96-89 win over Alaska last Sunday.
“Iyun lang siguro ang p’wedeng maging goal namin ngayon,” added Guiao, “make the quarters and try to get to at least sixth place.”
For the Blackwater side, they’ll be playing their two straight games in just three days. Preparation and conditioning maybe one of the priority of the team as they scheduled their practice game in Iglesia ni Cristo-owned facility ahead of their Sunday clash.
“Para ma-feel muli namin iyung pakiramdam ng court ng Philippine Arena,” stated coach Leo Isaac.
Blackwater were successful in their previous games in the biggest arena in the Philippines. They have played with Kia and Mahindra during their PBA debut in 2014-15 and on 2016-17 PBA Philippine Cup eliminations round.
