The NLEX Road Warriors is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Kia Picanto at 4:15 P.M. on December 20, 2017 live from San Juan Arena.
The time has finally arrive where the Picanto will prove that having more veterans is better than having a rookie that has a potential to be another PBA superstar.
In the 2017 PBA draft, Kia has decided to trade their first pick in exchange for San Miguel Beermen’s Jay-R Reyes, Ronald Tubid, Rashawn McCarthy and a future pick.
That top pick eventually became Christian Standhardinger who became an instant basketball celebrity when he joined Gilas Pilipinas early this year.
Many PBA fans got negative feedback on that trade and coach Chris Gavina will make a statement on their today’s game. NLEX coach Yeng Guiao knows that their first game in PBA 43rd season won’t be easy.
“We feel we have a competitive team this year. But we are wary of Kia because they have something to prove in view of their draft decisions. It’s always dangerous playing against a team with something to prove,” said Guiao.
“They also had strong performances in the off-season. But we are ready as we can be for our game tomorrow,” he added.
The Road Warriors on the other hand will unleash their biggest acquisition this off-season. It will mark the PBA debut of Kiefer Ravena where many PBA fanatics waiting for such a long time.
NLEX shook the league last Governor’s Cup when they reached the top spot of the standings for several weeks. For sure, they’re eager to replicate that accomplishment in this All-Filipino conference.
Apart from the addition of Ravenain NLEX’s lineup, almost the entire core of the Road Warriors still intact. Names like Alex Mallari, Asi Taulava, Kevin Alas and Larry Fonacier are all set to play under coach Yeng Guiao.
