The NLEX Road Warriors is scheduled for a head-to-head game against Kia Picanto at 3:00 P.M. on July 22, 2017 live from Mall of Asia Arena.
The Road Warriors are looking for its rare two-game winning streak under coach Yeng Guiao leadership while Kia Picanto wanted to bounce back after losing its opening game this 2017 PBA Governor’s Cup.
Two conferences ago NLEX seems like the punching bag of the opposing teams. Each time the other teams had the Road Warriors next on their schedule it seems like another sure win for them.
But it seems like that NLEX image is now gone after the franchise moved a drastic change in its roster. Since their last two games in the second conference, coach Yeng Guiao’s squad now start to know how to win.
“I can feel good vibes, that the confidence level is high,” said Guiao after practice Friday, reiterating the need for his charges to maintain their focus.
Another good thing for NLEX is their import who had a stellar debut. Aaron Fuller scored 30 points and grabbed 20 rebounds along with his three steals.
“I’m very happy also with our import,” said Guiao. “We feel he is the import that we need, the right fit. His strong inside presence can create opportunities for our shooters to get open because he demands a double-team. That will create the balance that we need, which is an inside-outside game.”

For Kia Picanto on the other hand, coach Chris Gavina continue to motivate his team with some inspiring words.
“I told the team that adversity does not build character, it reveals it. We will reveal the character of our team tomorrow as we strive to get our first win of the conference,” said Gavina.
In their opening game against Phoenix Fuel Masters, Kia allowed their opponent to go to the free-throw line 42 times which resulted to 34 points. They were also out rebounded 47-59.
“Defense and rebounding is a mind-set that involves a commitment to multiple efforts, whether it be helping out on a drive, boxing out, taking charges, diving for loose balls. It boils down to how much are you willing to sacrifice to help your team win,” added Gavina.
“I will play the guys who exhibit that toughness and commitment to give me multiple efforts tomorrow.”
