The NLEX Road Warriors is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Meralco Bolts at 6:45 P.M. on August 13, 2017 live from Mall of Asia Arena.
The Road Warriors are looking to make a bounce back after its stellar start in the ongoing 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup while the Bolts wanted to keep their unblemished record and improve it to 5-0.
NLEX turned the heads of many basketball fans when they started the third conference with a perfect 4-0. However, even Road Warriors coach Yeng Guiao still not fully convinced that his team is now a contender.
In their last outing in Calasiao, Pangasinan their real test emerged and that is the defending champion, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
They gave the Gin Kings a good match during the first half where it ended at 50-48. But in the second half, the momentum sided with Ginebra and the big lead started to pile up then NLEX eventually lost the game.
Aaron Fuller able to produce a double-double performance with 20 points and 17 rebounds but not enough to topple the Barangay Ginebra run.
With Reynel Hugnatan and Cliff Hodge limping due to ankle injury, the Bolts still managed to pull a win against the struggling Kia Picantos last Sunday.
The reigning PBA Governors’ Cup Best Import took over the slack. Allen Durham scored 25 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds in that win which makes coach Norman Black happy with his performance.
“Our import really led the way. He led the charge in being unselfish in moving the ball around. It’s a good job for Allen to dish out 13 assists. He made the big difference tonight,” said Black.
