The NLEX Road Warriors is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NorthPort Batang Pier at 4:30 P.M. on August 19, 2018 live from the Ynares Center-Antipolo.
The team which was known before as GlobalPort will make its debut this afternoon and will face-up against the surprising Road Warriors in Sunday’s curtain raiser.
Despite of their depleted bench as well as their head coach is in Indonesia and their dependable big-man, NLEX able to snag the rug and surprised the TNT KaTropa last Wednesday evening.
Led by their tireless import who is playing with a slight injury was a beast either from inside or outside. Olu Ashaolu hammered Talk ‘N Text with his 33 points, 23 rebounds along with his three assists.
Their today’s opponent head coach Pido Jarencio have nothing to say but praises to NLEX foreign hire.
“NLEX played a good game against TNT last night. Their import is strong,” said Jarencio. “We have to play our A-game tomorrow to beat NLEX,” he added.
Just like with the Road Warriors, now known as the NorthPort Batang Pier will start their campaign without their ace player, Stanley Pringle who is also sent to Indonesia to represent the country.
Apart from Pringle, another key player from Batang Pier won’t be suiting up this afternoon due to injury and that is Sean Anthony.
The up-tempo style of game of NorthPort will now be in the hands of Nico Elorde and Jonathan Grey. Usually play as a reserve role, Elorde and Grey made a stellar performance during the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup especially during the playoffs.
