The NLEX Road Warriors is scheduled for a head-to-head Game 1 Quarterfinals match against the NorthPort Batang Pier at 4:30 P.M. on November 25, 2019 live from Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

The Road Warriors will try to avoid a sudden death match and proceed to the next round while the Batang Pier wanted to live for another day and push the series to a do-or-die battle when the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup resumes this afternoon in Cubao.

At first glance when looking at the standings, it appears that NLEX is on the upper hand against their opponent.

The Road Warriors finished at the number one spot while the Batang Pier is at the tail end at number 8.

Yet, if someone will go on the details, the squad of coach Pido Jarencio is on a roll with their two-game losing skid while the Road Warriors had the red mark with the minus two.

“It’s kind of worrying to me kasi we should be peaking at this point, but pababa ‘yung laro namin. I think that’s a reason to worry,” said NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao.

The Road Warriors suffered two straight losses versus the then playoff-seeking squads, the Alaska Aces and guess what, the NorthPort Batang Pier.

Though NLEX has the win-once incentive going to their 4:30 game yet the fiery coach doesn’t see it an advantage particularly if his troops don’t change their mindset.

“There’s no such thing as a twice-to-beat advantage,” said Guiao.

For coach Pido Jarencio, it is expected that he will rely upon his offense to his “Big 3”.

“They feed off the energy of the three-headed monster (Michael Qualls, Sean Anthony, and Christian Standhardinger). They’re peaking at the right time.” Guiao said.
