The NorthPort Batang Pier is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Blackwater Elite at 4:30 P.M. on June 22, 2019 live from the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
The Batang Pier are looking to keep their winning streak and even with the TNT KaTropa at the top of 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup standings while the Elite will try to renew their winning ways with some adjustment to its lineup.
Blackwater’s original import, Alex Stepheson may no longer return to the lineup of coach Aris Dimaunahan after he failed to return in the country last Thursday.
Stepheson was diagnosed with an intestinal bacteria and needed to fly back in US for a check-up.
The Elite tapped the services of the former Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters import, Jameel McKay to help them back on the winning tracks.
With Stepheson, Blackwater was 4-1 and their second conference campaign looks very bright.
McKay will try to fill-in the shoes of Stepheson who averaged 22.1 points and 22.0 rebounds per outing.
NorthPort on the other hand, they’re now ready to deploy their new acquired players from the Stanley Pringle trade.
Sol Mercado, Kevin Ferrer and Jervy Cruz will have their new uniforms and will try to help the Batang Pier improve to 7-1.
“Iyung bagong tatlo lalaro na,” said Jarencio.
The Batang Pier improved ability to make a comeback after being down by double-digit was seen in their last game.
Despite having eight players in rotation as others got sidelined due to their respective injuries, NorthPort able to make recover and won the game against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
This is why coach Dimaunahan wanted his troops to be very sharp when dealing their today’s opponent.
“Taking care of the ball and executing our offense would be key,” said Dimaunahan. “More importantly, we got to be defending very, very well tomorrow because they are coming off a great win versus Rain or Shine,” he added.
