The NorthPort Batang Pier is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Blackwater Elite at 4:30 P.M. on September 19, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The campaign of Gilas Pilipinas for 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers is on break and PBA games are now back in action.
The Batang Pier are looking to make its first victory now that they have their full lineup back while the Elite will try to continue their winning streak and extend it to three.
Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters and the San Miguel Beermen two of the known big fish in PBA were the latest victims of the rejuvinated Blackwater Elite.
Last 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Blackwater finished last with 1-10 slate which also leads to firing coach Leo Isaac. Now with the adjustment on their new head coach Bong Ramos and the continued leadership of Henry Walker, this third conference they started the tourney at 2-0 record.
Although their next assignment is a win-less Batang Pier, Elite’s head coach don’t treat it as a walk in the park game.
“We cannot underestimate NorthPort’s standing. Natalo sila sa Ginebra in a very close game,” noted Ramos.
“We need to focus on our defense to get the win. Pringle and Anthony are a big factor. Plus, their import is slowly adjusting to the game in the PBA.”
NorthPort on the other hand, are looking good after the PBA break. Stanley Pringle and Sean Anthony are both back in action and their import Rashad Woods seems to get used to the style of game of PBA.
NorthPort head coach Pido Jarencio are asking his troops to play consistent basketball for them to get the first victory.
“We have to play consistent basketball, offensively and defensively, to beat Blackwater,” simply said Batang Pier coach Pido Jarencio.
