The Batang Pier wanted to avenge their PBA restart debut defeat a few days ago while the Fuelmasters wanted to strike its second victory when the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup resume this afternoon in Angeles City.

If TNT Tropang Giga guard, Roger Ray Pogoy owned the high-scoring award of the All-Filipino restart last Sunday, it was Phoenix’s shooter Matthew Wright turn in the following day.

Just like his Gilas Pilipinas teammate Wright came in ready and have his shooting weapon prepared for torching nets performance. Wright delivered 36 points and dedicated his game to the late Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant who is his childhood hero.

“Honestly, this is the first game that I’ve played professionally since Kobe Bryant passed away. I know it’s been a long time. It’s been over eight months. But not a day goes by without thinking about him. That’s my hero,” Wright said.

“I just knew that when it was time to come to the court, I was going to dedicate that performance to Kobe. I’m going to wear his shoes for the entire conference and I just tried to channel my inner Mamba today,” he added.

For NorthPort on the other hand, the combined 45 points, 23 rebounds and 16 assists from Christian Standhardinger and Sean Anthony isn’t enough for them to have a good footing in their 2020 Philippine Cup campaign.

As reported earlier, Batang Pier’s guard Robert Bolick will be out for the remainder of the conference that’s why someone needs to step up to compliment the effort’s of their main men.

“Undermanned kami ngayon and there are spots na kulang kami. Kaya lang given na ito na yung lineup natin, so we’ll make the most out of it,” said the NorthPort coach.

“Basta kami we just have to work together, play together,” said Jarencio.
