Former University of the Philippines standout Paul Desiderio and his life story was featured in Maalaala Mo Kaya for its January 19, 2019 edition.
Paul was played by Ronnie Alonte in the most long-running drama show in the Philippines.
Before he joined the PBA, Desiderio became an instant hero especially for the fans of the UP Fighting Maroons.
He was the team captain of that squad and he is one of the reasons why the Fighting Maroons able to return to the biggest stage of the recent UAAP Seaon 81 Finals.
With their run back to the championship round, he popularized the mantra “Atin to!” where eventually became his squad’s motivation.
Desiderio was the fourth overall pick of the NLEX Road Warriors in the most recent PBA Draft.
When he was selected, Road Warriors head coach Yeng Guiao even mentioned his famous chant where he surprised and shattered several mock drafts.
“Amin na to,” said coach Yeng as he called Paul from the pool of rookies.
