Paul Zamar’s three-pointer in the last few seconds in the fourth quarter lifted Blackwater Elite over the Meralco Bolts, 94-91.
Paul Zamar finished the game with 13 points while teammate Mac Belo added 14 markers with his 4-of-4 shooting from behind the three-point territory.
With the Elite’s victory they have now improved to 5-1 slate and currently sharing with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok in the top of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup standings.
Similar to their campaign in the recent 2018 FIBA Asia Champions Cup, it was another fourth quarter collapse for the squad of coach Norman Black.
Heading to the final period the Bolts were leading by a point with 62-61 score. Meralco even increase that lead to nine with 5:40 remaining in the game, 80-71.
The scoring surge of Meralco was led by Ken Bono who came in from the bench. The former UAAP Most Valuable Player kept his team away from striking distance by logging ten points in ten minutes of basketball action.
Then Blackwater import Kenny Walker started to control the game by leading his team for another late comeback. A strategy they always do in their past games which gave them good results.

If Walker wasn’t scoring he is setting up his teammates for an open jumper. One of the benificiaries of his assist was Mac Belo who was open in the top of the key and converted a three-pointer.
With that another Meralco loss, they’re now pushed deeper and now staring at their 1-4 win-loss record. They’re now in danger on getting eliminated after being a runner-up in the past two Governors’ Cup tourney.
