Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals between the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Meralco Bolts scheduled on April 13, 2022, at 6:00 PM.

The Meralco Bolts are now once again back in the driver’s seat as they take a 2-1 lead against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

In their most recent game, Meralco put on chains on stellar import Justin Brownlee and held him to only 19 points and limited his shots also, allowing him to only make eight of his 21 looks. Because of this, Brownlee gains his lowest scoring output in the post-season.

In addition, the Bolts were defensive in the second half. They held the Ginebra squad to only 26 points in the latter half, 13 for each of the remaining quarters. Not only that, but Meralco also reduced and took down Ginebra’s 13-point winning margin.

With the winning momentum on their side, Meralco aims to have a 3-1 lead against the Gin Kings in Game four.

However, the Bolts also had this kind of situation back in 2016 where they were also leading two games to one but were then swept in the succeeding three contests by Ginebra.

“Just [got to] live in the present, which is we’re up 2-1,” Norman Black, head coach of the Bolts shared. “In this business, you cannot really live in the past. Just have to live with what is going on right now.”

Meralco clung to Tony Bishop’s phenomenal outputs in Game 3 as they take the win. The import played for 43 minutes for the team and tallied 30 points and 16 boards. On the defensive end, Bishop had two steals and a block. Chris Newsome also had a huge game for the squad, completing the matchup with a double-double performance as he had 20 points and 11 rebounds.

“It was very difficult to score out there, so it was just a matter of just getting some stops and trying to hold on as long as we could,” said coach Norman Black. “We did have some good offensive performances, though.”

Christian Standhardinger had 17 points in the losing effort while Tenorio and Thompson both finished with 11 points.
