Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals between the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Meralco Bolts scheduled on April 22, 2022, at 6:00 PM.

The Barangay Ginebra takes a 3-2 lead as they win against the Meralco Bolts with a 5-point lead in their clash in game 5 and now has the chance to close the finals and remain undisputed against the Bolts.

All throughout games one to four, both of them went back-to-back on their contests as neither of them won twice in a row. However, Ginebra changed the momentum and delivered a win in the fifth game of the finals.

Despite them being a win away to get their hands on another trophy, Tim Cone, head coach of the Ginebra squad, is unsure about their pursuit.

“It seems like it is close, but it is still very far away,” said Cone.

“We know that trying to beat a good team like this three times in a row is nearly impossible. But we’re going to try our best to get focused and ready.”

Justin Brownlee blazed Meralco with 40 big points and converted 13 of his 17 attempts, seven of those looks were from long-range where he hit five of them. The import also had eleven rebounds and five assists. On the defensive side, he had two blocks and a steal.

Despite Ginebra having a 3-2 lead against the Bolts, head coach Norman Black seemed unbothered at all.

“They’ve only won three games. Obviously, I’m not giving up, my players are not giving up. We still have a chance at tying the series,” Black shared.

Scottie Thompson adds another stellar performance in their win scoring 19 points, racking up nine rebounds, and dishing out 11 dimes, nearly finishing the matchup with a triple-double stat line.

Meralco also had big outputs from their starters in the losing effort, namely, Bishop, Black, and Newsome.

Tony Bishop, who was scoreless in the first quarter, led the team with 30 big points alongside 15 rebounds. Chris Newsome had 27 points while Black added 25.
