Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup Semi-Finals between the Meralco Bolts vs Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots scheduled on March 23, 2022, at 3:00 PM.
The Magnolia Hotshots defeat the Phoenix Fuel Masters and enters the semi-finals, preparing for their upcoming matchup against the Meralco Bolts.
In their last matchup against the Fuel Masters, they won with a 39-point commanding lead.
“We prepared hard for this game and we really executed on both ends of the floor. We talked about it in the last three days of our preparation how to minimize the contributions of Matthew Wright, Jason Perkins and their import (Du’vaughn Maxwell),” shared Chito Victolero.
“I’m just happy we’re through the quarters. But this is only half of the goal. The other half is making the Finals,” he added.
Paul Lee was hot all throughout their quarterfinal matchup, scoring 25 points while shooting 7-10 from the field. Seven of those looks were from beyond the three-point arc where he converted five of them. Barroca had 18 while Harris had 15 in the winning effort.
Magnolia had great contributors in terms of scoring in their supporting cast. Jalalon added 15, Abueva had 12 and nine rebounds, almost finishing the game with a double-double performance, while Sangalang and Wong both provided 22 combined points for the Hotshots, 11 for both of them.
Meanwhile, the Bolts knocked down the powerhouse San Miguel Beermen in their quarterfinals series, ending the contest with a 15-point winning margin. They did not let the Beermen take their dominating lead and come away with a win just like their matchup during the elimination round in the conference.
Tony Bishop tallied 32 big points while shooting 12-24 from the field. Not only that, but the import also had 16 boards and two blocks on the defensive end. Newsome added 22 points while Reynel Hugnatan, who came off from the bench for Meralco, had nine points in total coming from his three three-point shots in just 13 minutes of action.
