Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup Semi-Finals between the NLEX Road Warriors and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel scheduled on March 23, 2022, at 6:00 PM.
NLEX ended the elimination round just behind the Hotshots, the number two spot with eight wins and three losses. They also finished the conference with a four-game winning streak as they went to the post-season.
However, they had to make an adjustment after they lost their star import and an NBA veteran, KJ McDaniels, when he was forced to leave the league to accompany his pregnant wife. They brought Cameron Clark as a replacement for the former import of the Road Warriors.
Clark was superb in their last quarterfinal game against the farewelling Alaska Aces. He aided the team to win with 24 points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Barangay Ginebra overcame the twice-to-beat disadvantage in their series against the TNT Tropang Giga, showing everyone that they still have their “Never Say Die” spirit.
LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar both posted conference highs in their “Do-Or-Die” contest against TNT. Tenorio tallied 22 points while Aguilar had 26 points and made 11 of his 14 attempts. Justin Brownlee had 29 points and 18 rebounds in the winning effort while Thompson almost racked up another triple-double, scoring 17 points, grabbing ten boards, and dished out nine dimes.
“It’s been a trial trying to get everything back to where it was two conferences ago,” Tim Cone, head coach of the Gin-Kings, said. “Having Justin back helped us out. We went through a bad stretch when we came back from the pandemic.”
“But we kind of recovered, won a couple of games, started to get a bit of confidence, and here we are, able to beat Talk ‘N Text,” he added.
Yeng Guiao, head coach of the Road Warriors, shared his thoughts on Scottie Thompson’s stellar performance in the quarterfinals.
“Problema talaga si Scottie dun eh,” he said. “Nung unang laro pa lang nila with Talk ‘N Text, siya na yung talagang key player eh. We will just have to find the proper matchups. And it’s not only Scottie. Of course, yung resident best import nila.”

Back in the elimination round, both of these teams clashed and the Road Warriors triumphed over the Gin-Kings, 115-103, but NLEX still had the services of McDaniels.
