The Blackwater Elite is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters at 3:00 P.M. on March 18, 2017 in Cuneta Astrodome.
The 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup has officially started and it will be the first game for the Elite and the Fuel masters this second conference.
Phoenix was able to make it in the 2016-17 PBA Philippine Cup Quarterfinals round but was eliminated by Star Hotshots 2-0.
Blackwater on the other hand was an inch away for bringing Mac Belo to its first playoff appearance but went short as they got beaten by Rain or Shine in a do-or-die clash.
Blackwater will be parading Greg Smith, a 6’10 rookie import who was seen playing in several NBA teams like the Rockets, Mavericks and the Timberwolves.
Eugene Phelps who was a catalyst in Phoenix’s campaign in last year’s Governor’s Cup will return to reinforce the team but according to reports it will be only temporary as Phelps already got a commitment to play in different foreign team (outside the PBA).
This game will feature two of the brightest PBA rookies and both are solid Rookie of the Year candidates. It will be Mac Belo versus Matthew Wright showdown.
