The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Alaska Aces at 6:45 P.M. on May 7, 2017 in Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The crowd favorite Gin Kings will try to keep their pace and extend their winning streak to five while the Aces are aiming to break their two-game lossing skid.
Small ball is the trendy offensive weapon in basketball wherein if executed properly a certain team won’t be needing the service of the traditional big-man.
This is what coach Tim Cone is currently working with his squad. He is also known as the master of the triangle offense which gave him multiple championship rings.
“It’s always a tough matchup for us against Alaska. It comes down to who can play their game. We’ll try to stay disciplined in what we do and see how it goes,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone.
Both teams will be having one missing player from its respective roster. Ginebra will be playing without Japeth Aguilar and on the other hand, Alaska will miss the hustle plays of Calvin Abueva.
Both players will be playing for the upcoming 2017 SEABA Championships and will be donning the jersey of the Gilas Pilipinas.
Also, part in the Ginebra-Alaska game is the retirement ceremony for Eric Menk. The man who is also known as the “Major Pain” will be officially stepping down as a PBA player.
Menk played most of his playing career with Ginebra (10 seasons) and later he also joined with the Aces for his final two seasons.
