The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the GlobalPort Batang Pier at 7:00 P.M. on April 5, 2017 in Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Both teams are looking for its first win this 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and try to avoid on getting buried deep in the second conference standings.
The “Never-Say-Die” team made its PBA debut last Saturday in Davao City and went against the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters.
Justin Brownlee also made its first appearance after helping the Gin Kings to reach and win the 2016 PBA Governor’s Cup trophy.
However, the game didn’t ended well for the Barangay as they bowed down to the Fuel Masters. With few seconds left in the final quarter, Japeth Aguilar dunked for an instant two points but was waived by the refs as coach Tim Cone signalled a timeout prior to that sequence.
Ginebra got two positions to protect their lead or win the game but all ended to a turnover without a chance to shoot the ball to the hoop.
Justin Brownlee probably still in his adjustment period playing in the PBA. He suffered cramps in the second half and was pulled out for the remainder of the game.
Sol Mercado was also not in the game due to an injury he got during one of Ginebra’s practice game.
Terrence Romeo had an awful second conference debut where he only scored 13 points. For some players that was already a passable scoring achievement but for the “Golden Boy” that’s not enough, especially that he’s the scoring champion last PBA Philippine Cup.
Tonight’s game will feature two of the best backcourt of the league. It’ll be Thompson-Tenori up against Pringle-Romeo.
