The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the San Miguel Beermen at 6:45 P.M. on May 21, 2017 in Mall of Asia Arena.
The rematch of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup is now here in the eliminations round of the second conference.
Barangay Ginebra will prevent a back-to-back loss after having a five-game winning streak while the Beermen is looking for another best first round finish since the elims of all-filipino conference.
The Gin Kings looked great during the first three quarters against Rain or Shine and seems they’re on the way to get their six-game winning streak.
However, their opponent unleashed a commanding 23-2 run in the second half and their sweet 16-point lead just disappeared all of the sudden.
Justin Brownlee was able to revive the winning chance of Barangay Ginebra with less than two minutes remaining in the final quarter but after that it was all Rain or Shine.
“We had a 14-point lead in the first half and then a 16-point lead in the second half and still managed to lose the game. We played some good stretches, but couldn’t put a complete game together,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone.
Ginebra’s coach stressed that in order for them to get a better chance to win against the Beermen is to execute better defense.
“Against SMB, we’ll need to play great the whole game to have a chance to beat them. We’ll need to be a whole better defensively than we were against ROS,” Cone also said.
San Miguel easily dispatched NLEX in their last outing kept the team of coach Yeng Guiao zero win.
June Mar Fajardo slowed down after returning back to SMB lineup as he was only limited to 12 points and 4 rebounds.
Charles Rhodes seems found his rhythm in the PBA as he was beasting against the Road Warriors. He logged an import stats of 37 points and grabbed 19 rebounds.
“Malaking bagay yung panalo namin against NLEX. We need some momentum to ride on as we face two tough games against Ginebra then Alaska Milk. It’s a virtual playoff time for us,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.
