The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a Game 2 Semi-Finals round against the Star Hotshots at 5:00 P.M. on February 11, 2017 in Mall of Asia Arena.
The continuation of the best-of-seven series between Ginebra and Star resumes today.
During the first quarter of action, it appears that Barangay Ginebra still have the momentum from its knockout game against the Alaska Aces.
Ginebra led as much as 10 points at the start of the second quarter behind the shooting of Chris Ellis.
However, Star Hotshots were resilient and was able to close the gap 37-38 at halftime. Defense was the key in overcoming the double-digit lead but most importantly the Hotshots were able to silence the crowd.
“I just told my teammates that the reason why we’re here is because of our defense, so we have to bring that back. We can’t force our shots because those will come. We have to play defense first before we can play offense,” said Marc Pingris.
“We were too eager at first. We couldn’t find our defense so we couldn’t get into our rhythm,” he added.
Paul Lee who struggled almost the entire ball-game converted his first three-pointer with less than 4 minutes to play. His pivotal shot in the last few second in the fourth quarter gave Star a four-point advantage.
LA Tenorio got the chance to close the gap but unable to control the ball from an inbound pass thrown by Scottie Thompson.
