Together with Ginebra, San Miguel sits at the number one spot with four wins and one loss while Rain or Shine is looking to improve their poor record with one win and four losses. Not only that, but the Elastopainters are currently having a four-game-losing streak.
San Miguel won against the Converge FiberXers in their last game to climb back up in the standings list and now share the same spot with their sister team, the Gin-Kings, at the number one spot.
Jericho Cruz had his best game as a Beermen against the FiberXers, registering 22 points and six dimes while knocking down nine of his 17 tries, five of those attempts were from beyond the three-point arc where he converted three of them. Perez, the best player of the game, had a big triple-double, logging in 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists.
The Beermen opted to go with their twin towers, namely, Fajardo and Tautuaa. The six-time MVP had 18 points and 16 rebounds while Tautuaa had 19 points and ten boards.
As for Rain or Shine, they almost won against the TNT Tropang Giga in their previous contest. The Elastopainters had a 16-point lead against them, but they blew their big winning margin. Rain or Shine was crushed by the Tropang Giga in the fourth period where they only had 16 points against TNT’s 27, resulting in overtime. In the extended period, the Elastopainters were outscored by the Tropang Giga and got defeated.
Nieto led the Rain or Shine team with 19 points while sooting 8-14 from the field while Mamuyac, who came as a second unit for the squad, had 18 points. Santillan added 17 while Nambatac had 16.
