The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NLEX Road Warriors at 4:15 P.M. on May 19, 2017 in Cuneta Astrodome.
The Beermen is looking to bounce back from a loss against TNT KaTropa while the Road Warriors will tune-up its new players added in its lineup.
The defending champion of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup struggled when June Mar Fajardo was out in their roster during their last outing.
The Beermen rely heavily on the scoring of their import Charles Rhodes but wasn’t enough as they absorbed their first defeat in an elimination round.
San Miguel’s last recorded loss was against Phoenix Fuel Masters and that was last year 2016 in the first conference.
Coach Leo Austria missed the presence of the three-time Most Valuable Player both in the offensive and defensive end.
“Kaya nga kailangan namin talaga si June Mar dahil sa kanya nag-uumpisa plays namin and his defense is vital,” said Austria.
So it happen for NLEX, the drastic move which was predicted by coach Yeng Guiao in the early stages of the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup really took place and some of their assets got traded.
This afternoon, the Road Warriors will parade new players in new uniforms. Alex Mallari, Larry Fonacier and JR Quiñahan are the team’s latest acquisition.
It will be also the reunion game for Fonacier, Quiñahan and Guiao.
Fonacier was with Red Bull then while Quiñahan was with Rain or Shine last year and both teams were coached by Guiao where they’ve won at least two championships.
