Beermen’s bid for another grand slam resumes today and looking to extend its winning streak to two which is also the same in the minds of the Fuel Masters.

San Miguel started the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup against the Meralco Bolts which was undefeated prior to their scheduled game.

The 2017 PBA Philippine Cup champs straight away shown Alex Stepheson and the Bolts its dose of its own medicine.

Coach Leo Austria unleashed “the Kraken” to reinforce their foul troubled import and performed their mastery in hi-low offense which they heavily used against Ginebra last All-Filipino Finals.

Charles Rhodes was also impressive in his debut although we haven’t seen his full capabilities yet as he was benched most of time due to an early fouls.

He logged 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds along with his 2 blocked shots which is one of his weapons.

“And I just got in foul trouble. That was real frustrating for me, so I’ve just got to get adjusted to the style of play with the referees,” said Rhodes.

After absorbing back-to-back losses, Phoenix wanted to get back on track and aims for two wins in a row.

Jamel McKay was beasting the boards against Ginebra in their out-of-town game. McKay grabbed a total of 28 rebounds and out duel Justin Brownlee who sat out the remainder of the second half due to cramps.

Fuel Masters prized rookie and Gilas member Matthew Wright scored 27 points who led all Phoenix scorers.
