The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Purefoods-Star Hotshots at 6:45 P.M. on April 16, 2017 in Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Beermen just got started to dominate the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup with its back-to-back victories while Star is looking to avoid another defeat after a stellar start of four-game winning streak.
A week ago, the Hotshots has tasted its first loss this second conference against an inspired Barangay Ginebra. Coach Tim Cone advised his players that if they can’t deliver a win versus Star then it’s time for them to look for another career.
Ginebra players stood up to the challenge and get another W during that Manila Clasico match.
On the other hand, coach Chito Victolero puts the blame to himself why his team lost to “Never-Say-Die” team.
“I didn’t prepare them well mentally for this game. The locals knew this is an emotional game. Kapag nasa actual game na medyo nawawala. We learned a lot from this game. It’s an elimination game, one loss and it’s still a long way to go,” said Victolero.
After showing some rust and championship hangover against the Bolts, the Beermen is now back in business as they’ve shown no mercy to Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters.
If fans sees Arnold Van Opstal playing in the court, it’s a winning signal. The former Green Archer contributed 3 points which all come from the charity stripe.
June Mar Fajardo led all scorers with his 22 points which is much better than San Miguel’s import who added 19 points.
The Kraken is currently working his way for another MVP award this year and looking forward on joining the elite group of Mon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio who won four MVP trophies.
