The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a Game 3 Semi-Finals round against the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters at 6:30 P.M. on February 12, 2017 in Smart Araneta Colisuem.
The continuation of the best-of-seven series between San Miguel and TNT resumes today.
The winning streak of the Beermen put on halt by KaTropa last Friday after their Game 2 match. The hot streak reached to eleven this conference and that was a new record for the franchise.
The other sad part for San Miguel is that the series is now tied to 1-1 as the momentum now shifts to Talk ‘N Text favor.
“At least, our confidence is there again. It’s all we want to do, to win one, then let’s see. We know San Miguel is a strong team, so to beat them, we all need each other,” Jayson Castro said.
Coach Nash Racela introduced a new set of players as its starting five in Game 2. That time around, Jayson Castro and Ranidel de Ocampo were in the group to slow down the usual 1st Quarter hot start of the Beermen.
After five minutes or so, Kelly Williams and Larry Fonicier joined the team inside the court which gave a totally all-veterans look for the Texters.
TNT took control most of the entire ball-game except for the time when Alex Cabagnot converted a three-point shot in the fourth quarter which makes the score even.
Jayson Castro responded with an and-one play and Ranidel de Ocampo scored in an open lay-up.
San Miguel had an opportunity to set the game to overtime or even steal Game 2 from TNT but they weren’t able execute a play with five seconds remaining in the game.
After San Miguel inbound pass, the ball went loose as time expires.
“We gambled to trap Alex so that he will give up the ball and it bore fruit. Again, it’s our one-on-one defense because we know that when it’s in the dying minutes, Cabagnot can shoot that ball,” Castro said.
