The Star Hotshots is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Mahindra Floodbuster at 4:15 P.M. on February 1, 2017 in Cuneta Astrodome.
Star Hotshots is aiming for the elusive twice-to-beat advantage against the already eliminated Mahindra Floodbuster team.
Early this season, Paul Lee has joined the Hotshots in a trade which involved the former MVP James Yap. Lee struggled during the adjustment and costs a two game losing streak for Star.
Many thought that Star won’t make it to the next round since their former scoring got traded to Rain or Shine.
However, eight games later the Hotshots is sitting at the top of 2016-17 PBA Philippine Cup standings just behind San Miguel Beermen.
Mahindra has taken all the necessary adjustments this conference to gain more W but this year’s Philippine Cup is not for them.
They have added the services of Jeric Teng, Rey Guevarra and Gary David but unable to provide the needed impact for the team.
The good news for the Floodbuster is the improvement of Alex Mallari who carried Mahindra in terms of its scoring.
If they’re able to find an import for the next conference who will blend with Mallari’s type of play perhaps those W will start flowing.
