The Blackwater Elite has slayed another PBA heavyweight this time it’s the defending champion Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 108-107 in overtime.
Ray Ray Parks Jr., logged a superb performance and shown to everyone why he won three straight Most Valuable Player award in the ASEAN Basketball League.
Parks Jr., produced 28 points and most of his damage came in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter and in the extension period.
Actually it was a battle between former San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in the crucial moments of the game.
Justin Brownlee keeps on pouring points to the Gin Kings until the end where he put his team within striking distance, 107-108.
Ginebra had an opportunity to win the match as Brownlee found an open Scottie Thompson in the corner three but his shot didn’t hit the rim.
Coach Tim Cone tried to call a timeout in that stretch but his signal wasn’t noticed until the final buzzer was heard.
Blackwater has just proven that their victory against the Meralco Bolts in the opening round is not accidental as they now owns the top of the standings with 2-0 slate.
All of their victories came from an overtime, a good way to test the mental toughness of the team now coached by Aris Dimaunahan.
