Barangay Ginebra San Miguel‘s center Greg Slaughter helped his team to log its first victory against the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters in PBA’s opening night.

Japeth Aguilar scored 21 points as the KaTropa find no answer for him as well as to Greg Slaughter who chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds.

On top of Aguilar’s scoring barrage, he also added three block shots making the paint of their opponent’s area well protected.

Talk ‘N Text tried to counter them with their small-ball offensive strategy plus their full-court defense but they run out of gas in the final quarter.

TNT coaching staff were so aware that running their new system takes lots of energy from their player. To keep them fresh a frequent substitution is being made but the Gin Kings familiarity with each other most likely is the big difference.

Teytey Teodoro made his PBA debut after signing a one-conference contract contributed four points as he took advantage the seven minutes playing given to him by coach Tim Cone.

RR Pogoy who was reported lost ten pounds as a result of his diet kept TNT in striking distance especially in the third quarter where they cut the lead to just two points from as high as 18.

Jayson Castro added 17 points and 10 assists while Brian Heruela made 14 points in his KaTropa debut.
