PBA Recap: Justin Chua Dominates The Paint Against Batang Pier

Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters center Justin Chua went unstoppable in the post area as he helped Phoenix beats NorthPort, 98-96.

Chua registered 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists enough for him to be named as the Best Player of the Game.

The drama between the two teams really started at the 1:07 mark of the fourth quarter with the score tied at 96-all.

Mo Tautuaa had the chance to put his team on front after he got hacked in the paint. He was sent to the free-throw line but unfortunately missed his two freebies.

In the next ball possession went to Phoenix but Matthew Wright lost the ball and went out of bounds as he attempted for a lay-up.

Batang Pier’s head coach Pido Jarencio then called a timeout to design a play with only 55 seconds left in the decisive quarter.

They went to Sean Anthony for their offensive play and he was guarded by Justin Chua. Anthony heaved a three-pointer and it went in, however, Chua able to sold a foul to a referee and the three points converted by Anthony got negated.

The worst part for NorthPort is that Anthony was called for his sixth and final foul.

The Fuel Masters able to escape another overtime game as Jason Perkins swished his two free-throws to give his team the needed separation, 98-96.

Batang Pier had an opportunity to steal the victory in their last stand with only 7.2 seconds remaining but Robert Bolick hail mary shot unable to find the bottom of the net.
