The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok were able to avenge their 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Game 7 loss against the San Miguel Beermen, 118-82.

The boys of coach Chito Victolero most likely used their All-Filipino Finals defeat as a motivation in their tonight’s ball-game.

Jio Jalalon is one of the many heroes of Magnolia who flirted a triple-double performance.

“The Cyclone” delivered 16 points, seven rebounds and ten assists and was named as the Bida Player of the Game.

Since the start of the match it was all Magnolia but it was really in the third quarter where they pounded their Philippine Cup rival mightily.

They piled a 30-point advantage in the third quarter and they added more in the final period where their scoring margin went as high as 38 points.

One of their strategies to make this convincing win was to limit the outside scoring of the Beermen particularly from the three-point territory.

An awful 4-of-35 from the rainbow country was the shooting output of SMB gunners compared to the 13-of-22 of Magnolia.

In hopes for a comeback, just few minutes after the fourth quarter had started, coach Leo Austria deployed the rarely used Chico Lanete then later the likes of Louie Vigil, Ronald Tubid and others also came along.

Charles Rhodes paced the Beermen with 20 points and 15 rebounds while Christian Standhardinger added 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Alex Cabagnot who scored 31 points in their game against the Alaska Aces tonight he was only held to 6 points.

Magnolia now improved to 4-2 record while San Miguel dropped to 2-3 and currently outside the top-8 teams.
