Columbian Dyip’s guard Rashawn McCarthy logged his career-high in scoring enough to topple the Meralco Bolts yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
McCarthy logged 30 points, 8 rebounds and three steals in the victory.
It was also a redemption game for the 6-footer guard after he was limited to only two points when they played against the Alaska Aces prior to the PBA two-week break.
He was also sharp from the three-point land where he converted half of his attempts (5-of-10).
Columbian Dyip head coach Johnedel Cardel was pleased with the outcome and was also happy to be back in the press room after they captured yesterday’s victory.
“Kala ko hindi na ako makakabalik dito (sa press room for the post-game interview) after three straight losses,” said Columbian coach Johnedel Cardel.
“In the long break, I gave the boys a four-day break to forget about basketball kasi ‘yung games namin, sunod-sunod at that time. Medyo nasunog ‘yung mga bata. Hindi kami naka-recover pero it’s a good start for us.”
Glenn Khobuntin was also in his “A” game during that match as he registered 14 points while Eric Camson chipped in with 10 markers.
Chris Newsome led Meralco in their scoring department with 17 points while Cliff Hodge and Ranidel de Ocampo got 14 points each.
