The San Miguel Beermen escaped the energized Kia Picanto and keeps them at zero win this 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup, 118-112.
June Mar Fajardo is definetely back and once again he’s in his usual Kraken mode as he registered 41 points along with his 17 rebounds.
Unlike their game against Barangay Ginebra, Terrence Watson was seen sitting in the bench in the entire fourth quarter and coach Leo Austria puts his trust to his All-Filipino lineup.
Led by Fajardo, San Miguel crawled back and used the fourth quarter to execute their run and took over Kia. This win, puts the Beermen qualified in the Quarterfinals round.
With Chris Ross in foul trouble early in the first half, the Picanto took advantage and controlled the first three quarters.
Geron Johnson exploited the defense of San Miguel and was able to deliver 42 points and 10 rebounds for coach Chris Gavina. Johnson found scoring assistance from Paniamogan, Yee and Corpuz who scored 14, 18 and 15 respectively.

However in the final quarter, Jun Mar Fajardo was too much for the Picantos as the Kraken converted severals and-1s. Also, Kia was in the penalty situation early in the fourth and Beermen used it on their advantage to take back the driver seat.
The Beermen outscored Kia Picanto in the last period, 40-28.
