PBA Recap: San Miguel New Import Helped Clamped Down Barangay Ginebra

The Beermen survived the last quarter run initiated by the “Never-Say-Die” team, however time wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.

San Miguel started the scoring barrage in the first half and defended the low post area. Ginebra big-men forced to pass the ball outside their comfort zone and shoot three-pointers instead.

Gin Kings shoot miserably in the rainbow territory during that stretch where they’re 0-of-18 at the end of the second quarter.

SMB new import Terrence Watson was impressive in his PBA debut who was reported that he just won a championship ring in an Israel based basketball league.

Watson delivered 28 points and 17 rebounds for coach Leo Austria who forced to deploy an All-Filipino in his last two matches as former Beermen import (Terik Bridgeman) unable to deliver the scoring goods for them.

“He’s a big help, he’s a big factor and yung impact nya sa game kitang-kita eh” coach Leo Austria comments on his new acquired import during the post-game interview. “The good thing with him hindi sya na scout ng kalaban,” he added.

From as high as 26 points lead, Barangay Ginebra’s famous mantra “Never Say Die” was seen once again especially in the final period. Although Raymond Aguilar played sloppy but his energy along with Kevin Ferrer ignited that late run of Ginebra.

Yet, the last two crucial buckets of Alex Cabagnot sealed the game. Cabagnot dropped 16 points and dished out 5 assists.

Chris Ross continues his aggressive scoring, this time around he logged 20 points while Arwind Santos added 23 points.
