For the first time in this champions series, the San Miguel Beermen is ahead 3-2 as they took Game 5 against the TNT KaTropa, 99-94.
Speaking about the “first time”, it’s also the first for the KaTropa to loss back-to-back in this Terrence Jones led roster.
SMB import Chris Mccullough ignited the Beermen with his stellar defense as well as his offense in the final quarter to snatch the victory.
Mccullough delivered 35 points, 22 rebounds, three blocks and a key steal for San Miguel.
He was later named as the Best Player of the Game.
The KaTropa was looking good at the end of the third quarter where they led 80-69. That advantage even increased to 16 points, their largest in the fourth period.
Yet, the likes of Mccullough and Terrence Romeo sparked a Beermen rally and with only 28 seconds remaining in the game, they finally reclaim the lead after their import floating jump shot.
TNT import Terrence Jones led his squad in almost all departments with his 35 points, 17 rebounds, and 8 assists performance while Jayson Castro and Troy Rosario added 18 and 16 points respectively.
San Miguel and Talk ‘N Text will return on Friday for Game 6 of their best-of-seven series and the Beermen only needed one more for them to let the balloon and confetti drop in the Big Dome. Yet, that scenario isn’t right for TNT and its fans as they wanted to push it to the decisive Game 7.
Chris Mccullough For The Lead!!!
