The Philippine Basketball Association (SBP) has garnered support from the government for promoting the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers in Clark, Pampanga.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial himself confirmed that Senator Bong Go – a well-known ally of President Rodrigo Duterte – greeted the preparations for the third window of the qualifiers.
Go was also one of the supporters for the re-action of PBA Season 45 last year in a bubble setup in Clark.
Marcial and PBA chairman Ricky Vargas met with Go and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Monday night in Malacañang.
“Nag-kuwentuhan at nag-pasalamat kami ni chairman Ricky kay Senator Go sa lahat ng tulong na kanyang ibinigay para matuloy ang PBA sa Clark bubble last season,” said Marcial.
Marcial also shared his plans for Season 46 which plans to start in April and Go and Midealdea are ready to help make it more successful.
“Sinabi lang din namin yung mga plano ng liga this year. Sabi naman niya (Senator) tutulungan niya tayo this season together with Executive Secretary Medialdea,” said Marcial.
Aside from supporting FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers hosting, Go also assured that it will support the naturalization of Ivorian Angelo Kouame who has already passed the third reading in the House of Representatives.
