The Philippines – Atene Blue Eagles are scheduled for a head-to-head game against the team Canada at 3:00 P.M. on July 17, 2018 in Xinzhuang Gymnasium, Taiwan.
After setting a winning momentum in their last game against the Chinese-Taipei White squad, immediately the Philippines-Ateneo Blue Eagles got shutdown by one of the giants in this year’s Jones Cup, the team South Korea, 79-90, yesterday.
Ateneo big-man Angelo Kouame had another double-double performance as he logged 10 points and 16 rebounds while Thirdy Ravena led the Blue Eagles in scoring by dropping 14 points along with his four rebounds and three assists.
Former Star Hotshots (now Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok) Ricardo Ratliffe led team South Korea with 15 points while teammate Heo Ilyoung scored the same.
The assist category was also dominated by the Koreans as they outscored the Philippines representative, 30-12. That also led to balance scoring for South Korea.
Ateneo had a chance to get cut the lead into just four points when team SoKor still leading 70-60. However, the Blue Eagles missed two consecutive three-pointers with five minutes remaining in the ball-game.
While Ateneo unable to buy a basket, team South Korea took advantage and orchestrated a 7-0 run. This resulted to a much bigger lead for them and the Blue Eagles run out of gas.
Coach Tab Baldwin and his entire squad are looking to make a bounce back game today at 3 PM but this may not come easy as they will battle another giant of the tournament which is the team Canada.
