The Philippines – Ateneo Blue Eagles are scheduled for a head-to-head game against the team Chinese Taipei Blue at 7:00 P.M. on July 21, 2018 in Xinzhuang Gymnasium, Taiwan.
The Philippines-Ateneo Blue Eagles seems like they found their groove against the international teams in the 40th William Jones Cup as they picked up their three straight victories.
Their latest victim was the young players of team Lithuania as they lambasted the LSU-Atletas, 98-68 at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in Taiwan.
Usually it was Thirdy Ravena who is stuffing the stat sheet but yesterday it was the Blue Eagles first-year player William Navarro.
Navarro who is a transferee from the San Beda University introduced himself not only to Jones Cup but also to the basketball fans who were watching the game. He registered 20 points, five assists, and four steals.
Angelo Kouame who is a usual force inside the paint created his damage in the post with 19 points along with his five rebounds.
Since the opening of the first period it was all Ateneo Blue Eagles versus the long arms of the Lithuanian squad, Ateneo had a lead of five points after the initial quarter.
Then on the second quarter, coach Tab Baldwin unleashed his new recruit and Navarro didn’t failed his mentor as team Philippines outscored their opponent 51-29 as they head on to the second half.
In the third and fourth quarters, the rampage of Ateneo continues as Lithuania unable to find an answer.
With the victory, team Philippines is now at a solo fourth place in the standings behind South Korea, Iran and Canada.
Ateneo will be facing up against host team Chinese Taipei Blue at 7:00 PM live in Taiwan.
