The Philippines – Atene Blue Eagles are scheduled for a head-to-head game against the team South Korea at 5:00 P.M. on July 16, 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan.

A stellar performance for the Philippines representative in the 40th William Jones Cup. The Ateneo Blue Eagles started their campaign by beating Chinese-Taipei B (White), 87-64.

It was in the second quarter where the Blue Eagles stepped on the accelerator as they outscored the host team, 22-13 and piling a much larger lead at the end of the first half, 48-33.

In the second half, Ateneo build more pile of points as their lead ballooned to 25 points, 85-60, after the two free-throws made by Jolo Mendoza with just one minute and thirty-three seconds left in the final quarter.

It was almost a balanced scoring for team Philippines as all of the players who went to Taiwan at least scored a basket.

Ateneo go-to-guy Thirdy Ravena led his team in scoring with 17 points along with his seven boards. Angelo Kouame had a double-double performance as he dominates the paint. Kouame logged 15 points and 15 rebounds.

During the first quarter, Chinese-Taipei White player Chun-Chi Lin surprised Ateneo with his awesome shooting as he converted all of his five attempts. Three from those shots came from the rainbow territory as he torched Philippines in the opening quarter with his 13 points.

However, those hot hands of Lin didn’t pass from the eyes of coach Tab Baldwin as adjustment being made. In the second quarter, the Taiwanese streak shooter got shutdown and Ateneo took advantage of it.

Despite of the acrobatic shots made by Chinese-Taipei’s Oscar Kao which puts the crowd inside arena in awe, the lead was still in Philippines side.

Kao had 16 points contribution for his team while Lin finished the game with 15 points.
