The Philippines’ Batang Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the team Serbia at 11:15 P.M. on July 3, 2019 (PHI time) live from Heraklion Arena, Crete, Greece.
Batang Gilas are still win-less but it doesn’t mean that they’re just a push over team. The Philippines Youth Basketball squad are still capable to set a trap and be the best spoiler in the tournament.
Most likely that is also in the mind of the head coach of team Serbia as they head on to their Round of 16 phase schedule.
The Serbian squad has no defeat and end up as the number one team in the Group D bracket having 3-0 record.
They lambasted team China in their tournament opener with a score of 106-57 then followed up with a close-game versus the Puerto Rico, 75-74 and finally they beat up team France with 85-76.
For Gilas on the other hand, they are high in spirits when they open their 2019 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup against the host team Greece but AJ Edu injured his knee and was only seen in action for two minutes. The Greek squad took advantage and won that game.
Against team Argentina, most of the Batang Gilas had stepped up and gave their opponent a tough time to score a victory.
Early this morning against team Russia, it seems that the boys of Sandy Arespacochaga lacks enthusiasm probably because of the earlier back-to-back defeats. They got dismantled by team Russia in that match.
Tonight, the Philippine representative in the tournament will try to spoil the bid of Argentina as one of the main goals of Gilas is to advance in the Quarterfinals round and most likely the rest will be a bonus.
