The Philippines’ Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the team Australia at 6:45 P.M. on August 10, 2018 live in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
The young Gilas boys are now secured to qualify for the upcoming 2019 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup after they have defeated team Bahrain yesterday, 67-52.
During the first quarter of action, the tandem of AJ Edu and Kai Sotto inside the paint appeared to be too much for their opponent. Apart from their domination inside the post, it also gave open looks from its shooter.
One of the early beneficiaries of the height mismatch and have open shot from the rainbow territory was Dave Ildefonso who converted back-to-back treys.
Gilas piled a nine-point lead after the first quarter of action. However, in the following quarter, team Bahrain stormed back as their zone defense went effective against the twin towers of team Philippines.
Bahrain limited Gilas Pilipinas to only score six points in the second period against their 23 markers.
In the second half, coach Josh Reyes made an adjustment which ignited the offensive prowess of Kai Sotto. The comeback of team Philippines sparked by Sotto’s dunk which also awaken the hot outside shooting of his teammates.
The entire third and fourth quarter were all dominated by Gilas and team Bahrain weren’t able to recover.
With that win, the young Gilas are now headed to a semi-final round showdown and they will be meeting team Australia.
