The Philippines’ Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled for a bronze medal game against the team China at 2:30 P.M. on August 11, 2018 live in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
After its stellar start in the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship the young Gilas Pilipinas boys bowed down to Australia Boomers yesterday in Thailand.
During the first quarter of action, the Boomers immediately unleashed their suffocating defense by pressuring their opponent’s ball handlers.
With the guards of team Philippines are under pressure, they had a hard time setting up their offense and most of them settled for three-point attempts.
Despite of that, Gilas was only down by a basket after the end of the opening period, 12-14.
In the second quarter, team Australia continue to execute their back-court press and this time around they are more successful. They dominated that quarter by scoring 30 against eight from team Philippines.
Coach Josh Reyes made some adjustment at the start of the third quarter but yet the Boomers responded with an early 6-0 run.
The entire game was dominated by the young Australian and shutdown the door for team Philippines leading to the Championship round.
Young Gilas version of Twin Towers led by AJ Edu and Kai Sotto had a combined 11 points and 18 rebounds effort.
At 2:30 PM today, Gilas will be shooting for a Bronze Medal against team China where they have defeated during the preliminary round.
