The Philippines’ Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Chinese Taipei B at 3:00 P.M. on July 17, 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Gilas Pilipinas is looking for a back-to-back wins in the ongoing 2017 William Jones Cup and after defeating the team A of the host team, the Chinese Taipei, today they’ll be playing against their team B.
Many Filipino basketball fans probably said that Christian Standhardinger is just another hype player after his average performance in his debut game with the Gilas.
In their opening game against team Canada, Standhardinger and coach Chot Reyes were seen shouting to each other after the Gilas mentor wasn’t happy seeing his big-man acting like a point guard.
In their game against the host team, it seems Standhardinger wanted to deliver another strong message to his coach but this time around he let his game do the talking.
He delivered an awesome performance by tallying double-double. The guy in a man-bun-hairstyle finished the game with 17 points and 15 rebounds.

“Last night people were asking why we were shouting at each other,” Reyes said. “But that’s part of the culture that we’re building here. And I keep telling the players that I’d much rather see you shout at each other and answer me back but when you’re in the game you’re playing hard.”
“I’d prefer that than (seeing you) not shouting or not answering me back but you’re gonna sit in a corner and feel bad and stop playing.”
“We are all passionate, we all want to win, and the important thing is what you do on the floor.”
Matthew Wright and Keifer Ravena also came big with their game. They have added 17 points and 15 points respectively.
The bad news for Philippines national basketball team is Ray Parks who accidentally twisted his foot upon his landing after he fought for a rebound.
Parks was carried by his teammates back to their bench. He finished the game with 2 points and 5 rebounds.
Mike Myers also continued his struggle and still looking for his breakout game. The supposed to be Talk ‘N Text replacement import was seen missing an open lay-up and a two-handed dunk.
But his contributions of 11 rebounds was big as the Filipino squad went superior in controlling the boards.
